A new package of emergency measures to support jobs and the economy
On 20 May 2020, the government presented a new package of emergency measures to support jobs and the economy. This new package of support measures is part of a three-month extension of the Temporary Emergency Bridging Measure to Preserve Employment (Noodmaatregel Overbrugging Werkgelegenheid, NOW) scheme: this new package of measures is called the NOW 2.0 scheme. The objective of the NOW scheme - to preserve as many jobs as possible - remains unchanged, but the NOW 2.0 scheme contains some changes and additions to the NOW 1.0 scheme. The NOW 1.0 scheme has also been adapted and expanded in a number of respects. Below is a brief explanation of the changes to the NOW 1.0 scheme, the NOW 2.0 scheme and various other support measures in this 2.0 emergency package for jobs and the economy: the Reimbursement of Fixed Costs for SMEs (Tegemoetkoming Vaste Lasten MKB, TVL) scheme and the Temporary Bridging Scheme for Self-Employed Persons (Tijdelijke overbruggingsregeling zelfstandig ondernemers, TOZO) scheme.
